My interests and skill set lie in unique people management skills required in an IT organisation or business unit. I have gained a great deal of experience working for iTouch with respect to relationships with large organisations such as Vodafone, and Wilson and Horton. My skills as a leader have been refined considerably working with these large companies, and I have a gained an appreciation for my work outside of New Zealand shores, and how this can affect my goals.
With NetValue I have applied technical expertise in a large scale internal corporate environment. Unlike iTouch where the technical skills were sold to customers, NetValue employs staff for internal development, developing its’ own intellectual property. And growing its’ own value.
The next step for me is in to a full management role. I have joined the MBA programme at Waikato University in 2009, and will use the new found knowledge and skills to develop myself into a complete business leader.
I have contributed towards many Open Source projects in the hope that my work can help evolve the IT industry. These projects include The PHP Project, Linux Mandrake, Gentoo Linux, and a number of PHP projects. I have been involved with Linux Mandrake support for 4 years, and I have helped develop, and deliver support to this great community.
I have grown, managed, and maintained an international Linux support group, which is now heading into its 6th year. http://www.mandrivausers.org was derived from the need to support new Linux users, and develop Linux on the Desktop. I have built an international support team made of people from all continents, which, with some guidance, provide enterprise level support and knowledge to the wider community. I have gained recognition for my work from Mandriva Linux in France, and now have semi official status for support.
My Ability to learn fast has always worked in my favour. I have good technical foundations, which helps me in learning new technologies.
