July 2001 – December 2002 | Web Dev / Systems Admin Team Leader

Davinci Solutions | Te Rapa Road, Hamilton

This position involves maintaining and building Linux based servers for required tasks in the office. These requirements include Samba file sharing, FTP file sharing, IMAP mail serving, Apache HTTP servers, and proprietary servers that have been designed, and built by our team of C++ programmers. My primary role at Davinci Solutions is to lead and guide the team of programmers. This involves helping out with coding and general task management and planning.
The team uses PHP extensively, and I encourage the use of PHP, as this is where I am strongest, although I continue to advance my knowledge into other languages. All data is stored in MySQL databases, as I believe this to be a strong and reliable database server, and as this is an Open Source database server, it is affordable.
I have been a Linux user for nearing five years, and have used Linux Mandrake as a Desktop operating system solely for the past two years.

October 2000 – July 2001 | WAP Dev / Systems Administrator

iTouch NZ Ltd | Auckland

My Job has been varied in this position. I have developed web and wap applications for Vodafone, and many other nationally recognised companies using PHP and Perl. I was responsible for the system operations, and responsible for building and maintaining NT, and Unix servers (freeBSD, Linux and AIX), and maintaining 25 NT desktops, and 5 Unix Desktops. I was also responsible for building and maintaining network connectivity. This involved communication with 3rd parties, and controlling router, and hub configuration.

I have designed, built, and maintained 20 Databases, running on Sybase, on Linux servers. Hence I have good knowledge of data structure, flow, and normalization.

I have concentrated on Websites that are interactive and attractive, where visitors can ‘leave their mark’ or take something with them when they leave.
